The marine environment is unforgiving, and saltwater is corrosive when vessels are docked at a marina or on a mooring for any length of time. All maintenance, refits and upgrades performed to ABYC standards to ensure safety and reliability, and maintain value in case of survey. Any major refits or upgrades will be completed by a professional marine electrician or mechanic.

Washing and Cleaning – once or twice per month perform a complete washdown of the exterior of the vessel. Wipe down the interior to prevent mold and mildew.

Bilge Pump Inspection – test wiring, float switch, bilge pump operation and replace as necessary.

Seacocks and Thru Hulls – inspect, clean as necessary and coat with protective lubricant to keep valves working properly.

Bonding Wires – test connections, replace connectors, heat shrink all connections as needed and/or run new marine grade wire where necessary and inspect zincs.

Systems InspectionCheck air conditioning is running properly – clean sea strainer and make sure water is flowing smoothly. Check the fresh water system and ensure there is good water pressure. Test that electrical devices are working properly and troubleshoot as necessary.

Engine Inspection – Check oil and coolant levels, exhaust and air intake. Take oil samples at regular intervals and send in for detailed analysis. Ensure batteries are fully charged. Clean sea strainers and fuel water separators as needed. Start engines and inspect for leaks, loose belts and other potential issues.

Running Gear – Check transmission fluid and inspect shaft for any signs of electrolysis. Inspect stuffing box or dripless shaft seal for leaks or signs of wear. Check rudder posts, shaft seals, steering hydraulic system.
